Life Skills Program

The Life Skills program is a 10 week program targeting individuals, families and young people who lack the skills to function in society. This program will draw on information from government websites and service providers for specific issues such as health, drugs and alcohol. This program will cover a brief session on Home Management, then include;

  • Work and Centrelink including a brief overview of applying for a tax file number, superannuation, Centrelink support payments, worker rights including minimum wage information;
  • Banking and money including a brief overview of bank accounts, internet banking, credit cards, interest, loans, etc;
  • Housing including a brief overview of leases, bond and bond loans, connecting utilities, rates, insurance, emergencies, etc;
  • Transport and Cars including a brief overview of car loans, registration, insurance, the importance of safety checks and maintenance, driving license and lessons etc;
  • Health and Wellbeing including brief overviews of how to access medical assistance and GP’s, Medicare, Health Care Cards, stress management and stress management techniques;
  • Healthy Relationships including a brief overview of safe dating, respect, safe sex, internet dating;
  • Safe Socialising including a brief overview of safe partying, drugs and alcohol, peer pressure, etc;
  • Taking responsibility including a brief over view of common laws, court, legal aid, identification, paying taxes, voting and time management skills.
